Ghanaian actor cum politician, John Dumelo has revealed that tackling rent issues will be top on his agenda if elected as Ayawaso West Wuogon Member of Parliament in the 2024 elections.
John Dumelo, who has been given the nod by the NDC to contest Lydia Alhassan for the second time following his defeat to the current Ayawaso West Wuogon MP back in 2020 elections, has disclosed a course he’ll pursue if voted as MP.
Dumelo has promised to champion rent issues in Ghana. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, the actor and entrepreneur noted that Ghanaians must pay a maximum of 6 months advance for residential properties.
The tweet read, “The first thing i will champion when I become member of parliament is the rent issue. Ghanaians must pay maximum 6 months rent advance for residential properties.“

Prince David Osei, has vowed to throw his weight behind fellow actor, John Setor Dumelo ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV, Prince David Osei lamented that the current Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Lydia Alhassan has refused to listen to the very own people who risked their lives to campaign for her to win the seat in 2020 elections.
Since Lydia Alhassan has decided not to listen to the people who deserted their friend, Dumelo to support her, then he will campaign for his friend in the upcoming elections to unseat her.
“Personally, it would not be shocking if you see me on a platform, campaigning for John to win the Ayawaso seat even though he’s an NDC but I’ll support NPP,” he said.
He continued, “When people go all out for you, you don’t take them for granted, you don’t do that. We stood on that platform, got a lot of insults because of Maa Lydia.”
Recall that a few celebrities took to the streets ahead of the 2020 general elections to support Lydia Alhassan, the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, in her bid to hold onto her seat.
These actors were heavily criticized by Ghanaians for not standing with their colleague, John Dumelo who contested for the seat on the ticket of the NDC.
