Celebrated Ghanaian Television and radio personality, Abeiku Santana has in the wake of the unfortunate passing away of Christian Atsu wondered why our good deeds aren’t enough for a longer life.
Speaking on UTV’s united showbiz entertainment show, Abeiku Santana would in his tribute to the former Black Stars player say “Nothing can stand in place of death, death is inevitable. With a heavy heart we mourn the death of our brother, Christian Atsu. Job asked God whether man will live again after he dies and God answered him, yes, he will live again”
Abeiku Santana would then conclude by adding “In times as this, the testimonies are overwhelming. His colleagues’ footballers, musicians, journalists, prisoners, orphans, family, everyone, everyone is mourning. So, I ask, why do good people never last on earth? Are our good deeds the basis for long life or what exactly is it? These are the nagging questions we ask ourselves”
Christian Atsu lost his life to a disastrous earthquake in Turkey where he played his club football with Hatayspor in the Turkish league and would score a last–minute free-kick goal which ensured the club’s safety from the relegation zone in the league in what would turn out to be his last ever football match. Tributes have since then been pouring in hither & yon with most highlighting his philanthropic nature and the countless to have benefited from his kind and genuine heart. A moment of silence was witnessed in his honour across several stadiums in Europe including Newcastle and Stamford Bridge in Chelsea where he once played as well as players who dedicated their goals to him including Inter Milan’s Lukaku and Ajax’s and Ghana’s very own Kudus.
