In the heart of Gomoa Techiman, a vibrant town nestled in the Central Regional part of Ghana within the Gomoa West District, a pressing safety concern looms. It’s about a central light pole—a fixture built with solid rock concrete. However, the ravages of time have taken their toll, leading to extensive cracks and fractures that pose a grave threat to the lives of our fellow residents.

This central light pole, constructed with rock concrete, stands as a silent sentinel in the town. Over the years, it has served its purpose faithfully, but time has not been kind. The once-sturdy structure now bears visible scars in the form of alarming cracks and breakages. These weaknesses, if left unattended, could result in dire consequences for the safety of the community.
The implications of this deteriorating light pole are grave, especially during the rainy season, when thunderstorms and heavy winds visit our town. The pole’s instability during inclement weather is a cause for serious concern. The threat it poses to the safety of our fellow inhabitants cannot be overstated.
It’s disheartening to note that this issue has not gone unnoticed. Numerous reports have been filed, and the community’s pleas for action have echoed through the years. However, despite these appeals, substantive action has remained elusive, leaving us with a sense of frustration and vulnerability.
“We find ourselves at a juncture where patience can no longer be our ally. Urgency is the order of the day. We implore the relevant authorities and organizations to heed our call for immediate action. The safety of our community is at stake, and we cannot afford to wait any longer. It is our collective responsibility to safeguard the lives of our neighbors and friends.” Gomoa Techiman residents.
