Richard Jay Belzer was an American actor, author and stand-up Comedian. He was born in to a Jewish family on August 4, 1944 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, United States. He is well-known for his role as BPD Detective, NYPD Detective/ Sergeant and DA investigator.
Belzer worked as a reporter for Bridgeport Post after graduating from Fairfield Warde High School. He continued his education at Dean College which was formerly known as Dean Junior College in Franklin Massachusetts but unfortunately was expelled.

Death of Belzer
Richard Belzer “passed away peacefully” early Sunday morning of February 19,2023 at local time at his home in France, according to his manager, Eric Gardner. Writer Bill Scheft, a longtime friend told The Hollywood Reporter that Richard Belzer had “lots of health issues”. No cause of death had been reported.
