The remains of South African rapper AKA are laid to rest at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg, today February 17, 2023.
Service continued with a private burial with immediate family and friends present at the solemn event.
Their families have asked not to broadcast the ceremony. A public memorial service was held on Thursday in honor of the rapper and late friend ‘Tibz’, while industry colleagues and friends shared their memories of ‘AKA’ on yesterday.

Videos of the burial procedures have been released online. Kiernan Forbes, aka AKA, was shot dead by an unknown gunman in Durban outside a restaurant in the coastal city around 10pm on 11 February South Africa time.
He was killed along with his close friend, chef and businessman Tebello Tibz Motsoane, leaving his bodyguard injured.
An investigation is currently underway to identify the perpetrators.
