In an attempt to shatter the record for the longest individual singing marathon, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum set out on a mission.
Akwaaba Village at the airport served as the venue for this incredible feat, where Afua Asantewaa Aduonum hoped to beat Indian Sunil Waghmare’s 2012 record of 105 hours.
At midnight on Sunday, December 24, Afua Asantewaa began her attempt to break the record with a resolute determination and a dedication to highlighting the depth of Ghana’s musical legacy.
Up until December 27, 2023, audiences were expected to be enthralled with the nearly five-day singing marathon.
After six days of singing non-stop, Afua Asantewaa officially concluded her sing-a-thon, which aimed to surpass the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
She completed 126 hours and 52 minutes, ending it at approximately 7a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023.
She broke the 105-hour record for the longest individual singing marathon in the Guinness Book of World Records at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
An Indian singer named Sunil Waghmare set this record in March 2012 when he sang for 105 hours.
Today, December 29, 2023, marks the conclusion of Afua’s journey to surpass the aforementioned record, which began at midnight on December 24.
Asantewaa’s distinctive approach brought a cultural touch to this musical journey by singing only Ghanaian songs throughout the event.
