Celebrated Ghanaian media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah couldn’t hide her admiration for Kobbie Mainoo, a 18-year-old young midfielder who impressed fans again after his exceptional performance at Anfield, during the Super Sunday clash between Liverpool and Manchester United.
During the Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool at Anfield, Kobbie Mainoo was praised by the Manchester United supporters for being “levels above everyone else in midfield.”
With the midfielder establishing himself in the first team, Mainoo has been a revelation for United supporters and a breath of fresh air in an otherwise disappointing season.
In the Red Devils’ 3-0 victory over Everton last month, the 18-year-old United prospect made his Premier League debut and looked impressive.
Mainoo, who has attracted the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate, even demonstrated his abilities during United’s Champions League match against Galatasaray in Turkey, where they drew 3-3.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, has rotated Mainoo throughout the season despite his early displays of talent, and the Red Devils have not always started him in the starting lineup.
Mainoo, a surprise target for United’s rivals, started the 1-0 loss to Newcastle at St. James’ Park but was taken off the field prior to the end of regulation.
The United starlet was not used as a substitute in the 2-1 home victory over Chelsea and the 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth following the Premier League matchup with the Magpies.
Mainoo did, however, make a brief appearance for United in the 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford after replacing Raphael Varane off the bench.
With Sofyan Amrabat and Kobbie Mainoo positioned in the midfield for the Liverpool match, Scott McTominay captained United in Bruno Fernandes’ absence due to suspension.
Soon after, United supporters praised Kobbie Mainoo on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying that he had “already [become] our best midfielder.”
Nana Aba, a die-hard fan of Man United also commended Mainoo following the 18-year-old boy’s impressive performance at Anfield, master-classing the midfield of Liverpool, she tweeted, “Mainoo is a cross between Essien and Makelele.”
