The official dismissal of Michael Osei as head coach has resulted in the appointment of Frimpong Manso by Ghana Premier League team Bibiani GoldStars.
The club had finished fifth in the previous season under Osei’s leadership, and he led them to another season in Ghana’s top division.
Nevertheless, the Miners’ season has not gone as planned; after 13 games, the team is currently ranked 16th. When the early-season struggles persisted, Osei was first told to step aside.
The Bibiani-based club has announced his departure, with Manso, the former manager of Bofoakwa Tano, taking over.
After a draw with rival Nsoatreman Football Club last month, Manso was fired from Bofoakwa.
In a press release, the newly promoted GPL side asserted that the decision to expel Frimpong Manso and his assistant, Mr. Isaac Kofi Sarfo was in the best interest of the football club.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to both coaches for their valuable contribution and dedication to our club. We wish them the very best in their future endeavors,” part of the statement released by the club read.
“We thank our teeming Fans for their continues support and we look forward to exciting times ahead,” the press statement added.
His first assignment with Bibiani GoldStars will be to play Dreams Football Club in the league.
Meanwhile, Stephen Frimpong Manso became the third coach to lose his job with just eleven games into the 2023–24 season.
This move comes after Nsoatreman FC’s coach, Maxwell Konadu, was attacked by Bofoakwa Tano supporters after a Ghana Premier League match last Sunday at Sunyani Coronation Park.
Nsoatreman FC made this revelation on Sunday, November 19, 2023, via their official X handle.
The football team announced that their coach had been attacked, “for picking up a point in a draw game against the home team Bofoakwa Tano.”
