Richard Ahiagbah, the National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized former president, John Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy.

John Mahama has suggested creating a new economic structure for the nation known as the “24-hour economy.”

Politicians, business people, and representatives of other interest groups have voiced varying degrees of optimism and interest in the proposal’s specifics.

For this policy to work, it means industries and companies would need more electricity for production of goods and services.

Mahama and the NDC said they will provide more electricity power to these companies at an affordable discount.

However, Richard Ahiagbah has called out NDC describing the opposition party as confused and doing everything to deceive the electorates to vote them in power in 2024 elections.

The Director of NPP Communications reminded Ghanaians of how the NDC struggled with deal with Dumsor under Mahama’s term.

Mr. Ahiagbah claimed that NDC’s plan to give a discount on night usage of electricity is impossible since they could not find money to buy fuel to keep the plants working when Dumsor entangled the country.

He added that even when dumsor was still prevailing in the country, the NDC government led by John Mahama increased tariffs by 166% between 2013 and 2016.

Richard Ahiagbah went on to urged Ghanaians to reject Mahama and NDC and vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2024 elections.

The NDC is confused. The NDC is just saying anything and everything to deceive voters.
But we know the NDC cannot find the money to keep the lights on. We slept in dumsor for years because the NDC could not find money to buy fuel to keep the plants working.

Meanwhile, John Dramini Mahama, recently reacted to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s assertions that the 24-hour economy is already in place.

John Mahama claims that some businesses that are open around-the-clock do not revoke a policy that offers incentives to those who choose to enroll.

According to Mr. Mahama, this policy will deal with the urgent problem of young Ghanaians traveling dangerously across the Mediterranean and Sahara in search of better opportunities in Europe.

However, detractors such as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia argue that the policy is unclear and that Mr. Mahama is misleading Ghanaians about it.
