Renowned Highlife musician Ofori Amponsah, popularly known as Mr. All 4Real, has admitted that hunger compelled him to record songs he is not proud of, and he has expressed regret over some of his classic hits.

Ofori Amponsah acknowledged that some of her hits, including “Emmanuella,” “Otoolege,” “Sardine,” and many more, were recorded more out of necessity than true artistic inspiration.

The “Otoolege” hitmaker revealed in an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz that he wrote songs that didn’t align with his artistic integrity due to financial difficulties.

He explained, “In this music business, you sometimes do certain things to survive. I did a couple of songs that were popular all over Ghana, but honestly, I am not proud of those songs because hunger pushed me to do them.”

“Those songs didn’t come from within and I wouldn’t have done them if I were financially okay back then. But I had to pay the bills—utility bills, school fees among other things,” he disclosed.

Ofori Amponsah, on the other hand, asserts that if a musician records songs primarily for financial gain, they may produce a hit song that briefly gains traction, but the artist and the hit song will quickly fade into obscurity.

“Musicians who make their ‘stomachs’ their priority become irrelevant after a period of time. When you are a musician and you are always thinking of making money to pay bills or sort yourself out, you may not come out with a very good song.”

He underlined the significance of writing music that originates from the heart, using hits like “Abele” as illustrations of classic, timeless songs with enduring power.

In other news, Sarkodie has voiced concerns regarding the increasing prevalence of toxicity on social media and advised users to exercise caution when using the sites as it may have an adverse effect on their health.

The rapper claimed that only those with strong mental health can withstand trolls on social media in a recent post on X, the former Twitter.

According to him, the platform has altered how people currently view the world.
