Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng has expressed his frustrations and concerns over the challenges faced in the fight against corruption. Allegations surface of a grand scheme by some judges to impede investigations.
This comes after Kissi Agyebeng took an offense at a ruling made by the Accra High Court in a case against Col Kwadwo Damoah, a former Commissioner of the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) Customs Division, and Joseph Adu Kyei, a former Deputy Commissioner of the Division.
The OSP claimed that the court’s decision to grant the two individuals mentioned above immunity is a setback in the battle against corruption.
Kissi Agyebeng claims that the decision will undo the gains gained in the battle against corruption. Speaking in a dejected tone, the Special Prosecutor, states that very soon, a murderer will boldly walk to the court to seek an injunction.
Mr. Agyebeng quizzed that should he feel frustrated and resign because of the recent difficulties faced in the fight against corruption.
According to him, he took an oath when he was swearing following his appointment to the Office of the Special Prosecutor to replaced Mr. Martin Amidu, who resigned on the same basis.
However, he assured that he was going to give everything within him to fight corruption in Ghana but lamented that he feels he’s fighting the battle alone.
“Very soon, a murderer will boldly walk to the court to seek an injunction. Should I feel frustrated and resign? I took an oath when I was sworn-in and in my life when I take on the ruins to do something I do it to the best of my ability,” he said.

The Special Prosecutor expressed concern about the trend at a press conference on Wednesday, November 29.A High Court ruled on Monday to invalidate an OSP report that accused Joseph Adu Kyei, a former Deputy Commissioner of the Division, and Col Kwadwo Damoah, a former Commissioner of the Customs Division at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), of using their positions to give the frozen food company Labianca Company preferential tax treatment.
In November 2022, Damoah and Kyei sued the OSP, claiming that the report was unfounded and had damaged their reputations.
The OSP was then ordered to pay GH₵10,000 in costs, and the court also issued a restraining order to stop the OSP from looking into the two any further.
