National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former president, John Dramani Mahama, has replied President Nana Akufo-Addo after he condemned NDC youth wings brandishing machetes around Mahama’s office complex.

On November 23, 2023, the NDC’s youth wings started a cleanup project around Mahama’s office.

This occurs on the same day that the ‘Fixing the Country Movement’ is scheduled to take over Mahama’s office due to allegations of corruption involving Airbus.

The “Fixing the Country Movement” declared that they would picket Mahama’s office if they felt that the Airbus corruption investigations were not moving forward.

The Movement urged the appropriate parties to act right away, deeming any casual attitude toward the Airbus corruption scandal intolerable.

Speaking at the farewell event for the retiring Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, President Akufo-Addo declared that the NDC faithful’s actions would not be tolerated prior to, during, or following the general elections scheduled for December 20, 2024.

In a response to the President’s condemnation of the actions by the NDC youth wings, John Mahama has fired back at Nana Akufo-Addo, describing his comments as ‘a bit rich.’

Mahama called President Akufo-Addo for overseeing the mayhem at Ayawaso West Wuogon and the killing of 8 compatriots who died during the 2020 elections.

According to the former president, President Nana Addo has not had compassion the families of these slain compatriots who died during the 2020 elections.

John Mahama wrote on his X page (fomerly Twitter), “This is a bit rich, coming from a President who superintended the mayhem at Ayawaso West Wuogon and has not had a word of sympathy for the families of our 8 compatriots who died from state-sponsored violence in the 2020 elections.“

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo gave Ghanaians the assurance that his administration would work nonstop to restore the economy to its pre-COVID-19 state.

President Nana Akufo-Addo felt confident that he would keep his word before leaving government.
