Vice President of the Republic and presidential candidate hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is confident emerging as the winner ahead of Saturday, November 4 elections.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be facing a stiff competition from MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh—running for the role of flagbearer.
However, the Vice President speaking on Thursday, 2 November 2023, when he interacted with a select group of media practitioners at his official residence at Cantonment said he’ll be victorious on Saturday.
In his statement, Dr. Bawumia expressed his confidence in winning the NPP’s internal presidential primaries on November 4 after touring all 275 constituencies in the nation and meeting with party delegates there.
“There are many fond memories of this journey that will go a long way to deepen the respect, love, and harmony between me and the people of our party. Having put up a spirited campaign backed by a dedicated team of brilliant and hardworking young men and women across the country, have nothing but absolute confidence” Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said.
“Insha Allah, I will be victorious on Saturday, November 4, and my victory will be a victory for the NPP. After this, that is, (after 4 November), I will shortly through the media, outline my vision and plans that I have to better the lives of all of us in Ghana,” Dr. Bawumia added.
Relatedly, the Vice President asserts that he is a grassroots candidate rather than an establishment one, as his opponents would have Ghanaians believe.
During his press conference, Dr. Bawumia stated that he has become even more acquainted with the party’s members during the campaign. He firmly believes that having been involved in this campaign for more than 15 years, starting in 2008, he can declare with confidence that he has been working with the NPP grassroots for a significant amount of time.
