Early Life
Seager attended Northwest Cabarrus High School in Kannapolis, North Carolina. He was a three-star recruit and was offered scholarships from several schools, also including South Carolina, North Carolina State, and Wake Forest. Seager chose to attend South Carolina, where he played college baseball for the Gamecocks.
Seager also had a standout freshman season at South Carolina, batting .336 with 10 home runs and 44 RBIs. He was also named to the All-SEC Freshman Team and was a finalist for the SEC Freshman of the Year award. Seager followed up his freshman season with another strong year in 2014, batting .353 with 12 home runs and 57 RBIs. He was named to the All-SEC First Team and was a finalist for the SEC Player of the Year award.
He signed a $2.55 million signing bonus with the Dodgers and began his professional career in the Dodgers’ minor league system. Seager quickly rose through the minors and made his MLB debut in 2015.
