Former Black Stars skipper and legend, Asamoah Gyan has been trending on social media since news broke last night that court has ordered him to give some part of his properties including a monthly allowances to his ex-wife Gifty Gya as part of the divorce settlement.
Following this, Gyan’s lawyer who represented the all-time top scorer of the Black Stars spoke in an interview on UTV, sighted by InsightNewsgh.com revealed the cause of their divorce.
Lawyer Edwin Kusi Appiah revealed that Asamoah Gyan did not go to court to divorce his ex-wife but sought for an annulment of their marriage contrary to what has been reported earlier he sought to divorce her.
According to Mr. Edwin Kusi Appiah, Gifty Gyan was already married to another man in 2002 and the their union was still valid and also got married to Asamoah Gyan in 2013.
He continued that, the court revealed that Gyan’s ex-wife marriage to Mr. Eugene Odame Antwi was still legal. The Lawyer said Gifty left Mr. Eugene Antwi from Italy to Ghana after their marriage but refused to return back to her husband.
In course of time, she met the former Sunderland forward and got married to him in 2013. However, after some few years of marriage, Baby Jet got a hint that his wife was already married to another man in Italy – that was when the ex-Black Star captain decided to annul their marriage which produced three children.
