The brother of former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, Baffour Gyan, has given their account of what transpired during their brother’s marriage annulment hearing in court, claiming they came out on top.

Baffour Gyan said in an Asempa FM interview that Asamoah Gyan is the winner of the case, despite what has been reported in the press.

“I’ve heard the news, it’s our (Gyan brothers) victory and people have turned it around,” he stated.

Throwing more light on what happened in court on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Baffour Gyan revealed that “five years ago, Asamoah took his marriage to court. His wife had been married before and still went ahead to marry him (Asamoah) without letting him know. When Asamoah found out, he took the matter to court for investigation, and if it turned out that Gifty Gyan was married previously, their (Asamoah and Gifty) marriage should be annulled.”

Baffour Gyan provided additional details about the Tuesday, October 31, 2023, court proceedings by revealing that

In fact, Baffour Gyan said, the marriage had been dissolved as reported in the news.

“So the ruling came today, and the court found out that indeed, Gifty had been married, and as per Ghana’s law, a woman cannot be married to two men at the same time. So the court annulled the marriage, stating that it doesn’t exist.”

Regarding the properties that Gifty Gyan received as part of the divorce settlement, Baffour Gyan disclosed that all of the properties were in Gifty’s name from the beginning because they were hers.

“On the matter of the properties, when Asamoah and Gifty were together, he bought Gifty and the kids a house in Spintex, so that house was already in Gifty’s name. Gifty also bought a plot of land in Tema to be used as a gas station, that piece of land was also in her name already. And then the Infiniti car,” he explained.
