The polling places for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) November 4, 2023 presidential primary have been revealed.

These primaries, which will take place in the various constituencies across all 16 regions of the nation, will decide the party’s nominee for the general elections in 2024.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, and former Mampong Member of Parliament Francis Addai-Nimoh are among the contenders vying for the nomination.

Voting will take place at Cape Coast’s Robert Mensah Stadium by Central Region delegates. Delegates from the Volta Region will cast their ballots at the Mawuli Senior High School, while voters in the Greater Accra Region will do so at the YMCA.

Ashanti Region delegates will meet at St. Louis College of Education, and Eastern Region delegates will meet at the SEC/TEC SCH in Koforidua, which is in the Juaben constituency.

The John Bitar Club House in Dwinasen 1, which is a part of the North Sefwi Wiawso constituency, will serve as the voting site for the Western Region.

On September 13, 2023, the party’s national election committee held a balloting event. Kennedy Agyapong won the first slot, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took second place, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto took third place, and Francis Addai Nimo, a former Mampong MP, took fourth place.

Relatedly, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s qualities have been praised by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He claimed that because of his honesty, he chose the former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana to be his running mate.

Dr. Bawumia was chosen, according to Akufo-Addo, because of his exceptional qualities of honesty, goal orientation, and unwavering commitment to accomplishing group objectives.

Additionally, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the need for Ghana’s leadership to maintain regional harmony and balance, stressin, “In terms of the balance, people from the south, people from the north…I think that for the unity of the country, it is good that we have a leadership where Northerners and Southerners are together so that the country can remain united.”
