Calling your relationship off just before Valentine’s Day is a new hell, be careful how you do it.

Nothing can be more painful than a breakup before Valentine’s Day.

Even if you and your partner broke up a few months before V-Day, chances are that wound is still fresh if it’s a meaningful relationship. And knowing that a romantic holiday is approaching can be intimidating.

What doesn’t mean certainly won’t hold up and so breaking up can be optional.

While breaking up with your lover can be terrible, especially if you do it before Valentine’s Day, try to do it politely.

Here are some of the best tips for you:

    1. Analyse if that’s what you want

Before you break up with your partner, make sure you really want to end the relationship.

If you have any doubts and concerns about your relationship, it is important that you talk to your partner about those things before breaking up.

The shock of this sudden breakup can be very, very traumatic and very hard to get over. So having a well thought out breakup also means that breaking up shouldn’t be a rash decision made in the middle of an argument or a card you use to control your partner. .

    2. Deliver the news face-to-face

If you feel safe seeing your future ex in person, you owe it to your partner to have a face-to-face conversation about the breakup.

Yes, it’s more uncomfortable and more difficult than breaking up over the phone, but it shows that you care about them and that you care about the relationship.

    3. Be direct

Don’t go around and imply that you want to break up without actually saying it. The less direct approach seems gentler at the moment, but the confidence is not. The best thing to do is just tell the truth.

    4. Keep the focus on the relationship

Think of the breakup as a problem in the relationship rather than a defect on your partner’s part.

Couples break up for a myriad of reasons, but at the end of the day, it’s the relationship going its way and relationships are always two people, so realize that your role isn’t working.

    5. Plan for some reactions

There’s no sure way to predict how your partner will react after a breakup, but there are some reactions that you should be prepared for.

Show empathy as you would before the breakup – through a hug or other affectionate gesture while being prepared and accepting that it will be rejected.
