Kwame Asare Obeng (A-Plus), a political activist and commentator on entertainment, has declared that, given the chance, he would obliterate the letter the New Patriotic Party (NPP) sent to United Television (UTV) management in which it expressed concerns about the organization of the United Showbiz program.
He made this comment after Dr. Herzuah slammed him to ripping up NPP letter to UTV on live during a recent episode of the United Showbiz program.
A-Plus claimed that his earlier action of tearing apart the letter on live television was justified by his constitutionally protected right to protest.
He said he was able to access the letter online and print it during an interview with Johnnie Hughes on the Sunrise program on 3FM on Tuesday, October 10.
“I think everybody has the right to feel how they want to feel, there is nothing wrong with people criticizing people for their actions however, it doesn’t change the fact that if I get that letter now I will tear it again,” he said.
He added “I found that letter online, it wasn’t presented to me, I went online and got the PDF of it, printed it and as a form of protest I ripped it apart. That is my right enshrined in the constitution that I can protest and for this kind of protest I was not going to disturb public order so I did not need a police permit. It is fine, anybody can criticize me.”
Dr. Paul Anzah Ackah Herzuah in an earlier interview criticized A-Plus for publicly tearing up a letter the NPP had sent to the station’s management expressing concerns about the show’s structure.
The management of the station should have had control over Kwame A-Plus and prevented him from tearing up the letter, even though Dr. Herzuah called the attack on UTV despicable and unfortunate.
On Monday, October 9 on 3FM’s Sunrise Show with Johnnie Hughes, Dr. Herzuah said “It was unfortunate given the fact that it involved a top political party like the NPP. The invasion was a despicable act, it can be condemned in no uncertain terms but looking at what happened before the invasion, A-Plus tearing the papar or that communique live on TV was also still not the best as far as I am concerned.
