Kennedy Agyapong, a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has spoken out about his resentment of certain members of parliament, particularly those he claims to have helped in the past.
On October 5, 2023, he claimed in an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM that some NPP MPs had abandoned him as he ran for flagbearer.
“I am very bitter if I had not contested, I wouldn’t have known as my enemies. These MPs, the help that I have given them,” he lamented.
He singled out one MP, Mr. Alfred Obeng-Boateng, who represents the Western North Region’s Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency. He claims to have personally supported and campaigned for Mr. Obeng-Boateng in the past.
Ken Agyapong expressed his dissatisfaction, saying that Alfred Obeng-Boateng is now running a campaign against him despite his support.
“Last week, one of them that I have helped, I will never forgive him but after November 4th he will see what will happen. You see if you are not even going to vote for me, you have a choice and I don’t have a problem.
“But the people in his constituency know I went to campaign for him, and this man pick up a phone and calls delegates telling them not to vote for Kennedy Agyapong, but vote for number two on the ballot paper. And then one of them asked him why, and he said Kennedy Agyapong doesn’t know how to talk,” he said.

He continued, “I campaigned for him in Bibiani, I am not afraid of him, Alfred Obeng-Boateng. I left his place at 1:00a.m for this man to tell me that I don’t know how to talk, I can never forgive that guy.”
He revealed that he supported Alfred Obeng when he encountered obstacles in his career, saying, “When they sacked him from BOST, he was I always in my house till about 1:00a.m consoling him.”
“If it was in America, they would say he has depression. And this man, if you won’t vote for me, that’s not a problem, but for you to go and tell your delegates that Kennedy Agyapong doesn’t know how to talk, I leave him to God.”
On Saturday, November 4, the NPP is expected to choose its 2024 presidential flagbearer between Ken Agyapong, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, Francis Amoh and Vice President Bawumia.
