The poor road system in the community has prompted protests from the residents of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

To express their anger at the government for failing to fix their roads, protesters in the area blocked some important highways.

The locals claim they are tired of the government making empty promises to repair the road.

The Ashaiman roundabout connecting Ashaiman to the Tema-Akosombo highway, Adjei Kojo, Oyibi-Somanya road, and the Ashaiman traffic intersection have all been blocked by protesters.

Some locals have been urging Albert Boakye Okyere, the MCE for the area, to urgently start work on the road.

🚨ICYMI🇬🇭✊🏾 🛣️: The Concerned Citizens of Ashaiman, a Ghanaian pressure group, have embarked on a peaceful demonstration under the banner of #FixedOurRoads—drawing inspiration from the recently concluded 3-day #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest.

In related news, pprotesters gathered at Obra Spot for #OccupyBoG Demo organized by the NDC minority group in Parliament, Arise Ghana, and others.

Protests are being held against the governor of the Bank of Ghana by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The demonstrators, who are mostly dressed in somber black and striking red clothing with many donning vibrant red caps, are united in their demand that Dr. Ernest Addison, the governor of the Bank of Ghana, and his two deputy governors resign.

Their demands are a result of worrying information about the Central Bank’s financial situation.

The Bank of Ghana suffered a staggering loss of GH60.81 billion during the 2022 fiscal year, as revealed by the protestors. Due to this significant financial setback, there are serious questions about the bank’s management and accountability.

Additionally, the use of more than $250 million for the construction of a new headquarters has drawn criticism.
