Former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has lamented over the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako known as Chairman Wontumi open campaign against him.
Appearing as a guest on Mpe Ne Mpu on UTV, Mr. Alan Kyerematen who recently resigned from NPP stated that he brought Chairman Wontumi into NPP.
He also revealed that when he saw the potential and the seriousness of Chairman Wontumi he pushed him to rise through the ranks of NPP to become a Regional Chairman in the Ashanti but the latter has been ungrateful and turned against him.
“When Wontumi met me, he told me he was not ready to do politics but he loves my vision and if I am contesting for NPP Presidential flagbearship then he will support me. When I realized he was courageous and serious I took to Bosomtwe constituency and made him a Chairman,” Alan Kyerematen revealed.
His comment comes after Chairman Wontumi ordered 47 constituencies to remove all posters, banners, and other campaign materials.

All regional chairs in the 47 constituencies were instructed by the NPP in the Ashanti Region to immediately take down any signs, banners, or other campaign materials connected to the late Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen from their respective party offices.
The NPP stressed that Mr. Kyerematen’s promotional materials are no longer relevant within the party offices as a result of his resignation in a memo dated September 25, 2023, signed by Chairman Wontumi.
