Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that Alan Kyerematen cannot be the answer to the mess the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in which he took part, caused.
He claimed that Alan is not a suitable replacement for the NPP’s failed current administration.
He claimed that Alan actively contributed to the demise of the economy from 2017 to 2023 as the Cabinet Minister in charge of Trade and Industry and a member of the Economic Management team.
Sammy Gyamfi added that while Alan was in charge, the Komenda Sugar Factory was left to rot for nearly six years as the manufacturing sector’s growth sharply slowed and businesses were choked off by his Ministry’s and the government’s bad policies leading to several job losses.
He claimed that under the direction of the despotic tyrant President Nana Akufo-Addo, who is hellbent on installing his puppet as his successor and continues to oppress people who disagree with him, there is no way Alan could have received even a modicum of fairness or justice in the ongoing presidential primaries of the NPP.
In order to run as an independent in the general elections of 2024, Alan Kyerematen has declared his intention to leave the party.
Given that Kyerematen has been a devoted supporter of the NPP for a long time, his decision has shocked the political establishment.
On Monday, September 25, 2023, Kyerematen held a press conference in Accra where he discussed his decision to leave the NPP.
This is Kyerematen’s second departure from the NPP.
Relatively, the former Trade and Industry Minister has added his voice to the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest which took place from September 21 to 23.
The protest, which originally started on Thursday, unexpectedly changed course when the police got involved, detaining 49 of the organizers on suspicion of unlawful assembly.
Following the public criticism about how the police handled the situation, the Ghana Police Service in a statement, the Police expressed their gratitude to the public and their regret for any inconvenience caused by the three-day protest known as #OccupyJulorbiHouse, which was organized by the Democracy Hub group.
Mr. Alan Kyeremanten who just resigned from the New Patriotic Party has condemned the Police Service for assaulting and arresting #OccupyJulorbiHouse protestors.
According to him in a Tweet, the former Trade Minister said the recent #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration is due to the unemployment crisis in the country which is gradually becoming a national security.
