In their Thursday international friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana easily defeated Liberia 3-1.
Chris Hughton’s team romped to victory thanks to goals from Ernest Nuamah, Mohammed Kudus, and Jordan Ayew in the second half. Liberia’s consolation goal was scored by Divine Teah.
A number of the players who started the 2023 AFCON qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR) five days prior were rested by Hughton for this game.
Andre and Jordan Ayew, along with Inaki Williams, Lawrence Ati Zigi, Alidu Seidu, Abdul Salis Samed, and Osman Bukari, were left off the starting lineup.
Instead, Alexander Djiku, Joseph Aidoo, and Nicholas Opoku formed a back three to defend Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, who started in post.
The midfield was manned by Edmund Addo and Baba Iddrisu, while Kingsley Schindler and Abdul Hamid Fatawu were used as wingbacks.
Ernest Nuamah and Mohammed Kudus supported Antoine Semenyo, who started at the top of the lineup.

With the exception of a few errant free kicks from Kudus, the Black Stars took some time to get going and didn’t really produce much up front.
Semenyo had the best opportunity of the half, though, when he was put through on goal. However, despite getting past the goalkeeper, his heavy touch let him down, and the ball went out of play.
After receiving a lovely pass and putting a shot between the legs of the Liberian goalkeeper, Nuamah opened the scoring for Ghana on minute 51 of the second half.
When he set up Kudus to double the Black Stars’ lead in the 73rd minute, the Lyon star transitioned from scorer to provider.
After some outstanding play down the flanks by debutant Jonathan Sowah, substitute Jordan Ayew entered to add a third late on, but Liberia’s Divine Teah pulled one back as the game ended 3-1.
