According to Ghana Police Service Director-General of Operations COP George Alex Mensah, the current Inspector General of Police is the worst the nation has ever had.
The worst IGP tenure he had ever witnessed in Ghana, according to him, was under Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
COP Today, Friday, September 1, Alex Mensah testified before the Committee charged with looking into an alleged plot to depose the IGP. He claimed to have told the IGP this directly in his face “several occasions.”
With him in charge of the police administration, he claimed, the Service is going in the wrong direction.
“Honourable member and honourable chair, several opportunities and what I said yesterday if you give me the opportunity today, I will say it again. For me, for the 31 years I have been in the service, he is the worst IGP ever,” he said.

On August 31st, COP Alex Mensah admitted several things in front of the Committee.

“Honourable Chair, I will not deny that fact today, tomorrow or the next day, I will make that statement again, that the current Inspector General of Police is not managing the Police Service well.”
According to the lawyer/Chartered Accountant, he has been advocating for appointment as Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Even though he hasn’t been successful, he insisted that he hasn’t given up on that goal.
The committee received confirmation from the police chief that he supports the NPP.
The Abuakwa South MP, Samuel Atta-Akyea, was appointed by the Speaker of Parliament on July 25 to serve as the chairman of a 7-member ad hoc committee to investigate the recently released contentious audio in which voices are heard covertly plotting to remove the Inspector General of Police.
