Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) deputy national communications officer Kweku Boahen has asserted that Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1 should have been jailed long-term.
Mr. Kweku Boahen speaking on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma morning show monitored by InsightNewsgh.com revealed the moment NAM 1 requested the aggrieved customers of Menzgold to pay GH₵650 verification process to qualify them for a refund of their investment, he should been arrested and put behind bars.
According to him, NAM 1 has been over-pampered and allowed to walk freely in the country without facing charges against him after his gold business collapsed leaving many investors handicapped.

His comment comes after 39 new charges have been brought by the Attorney General’s Office against the CEO of Menzgold. Along with two other people, the Menzgold chief executive officer is facing new charges.
NAM1 and his companies Menzgold Company Limited and Brew Marketing Consult Limited were charged with a total of 39 counts in the most recent charge sheet submitted at the preferred court.
The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, has signed the most recent charge sheet that was submitted on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, with case number CR/0411/2023.
Menzgold recently revealed that it had paid 5000 of its clients, according to NAM1. Initial customer requests for all required documentation were made by the business to speed up the payment validation process.
However, the company explained in a later communication that a sizable portion of submitted claims had discrepancies, making 60% of the claims ineligible for settlement.
The now-defunct business had also suggested that customers with funds locked up enroll for a fee of 650 cedis to find out if they qualified for reimbursements.
Concerns have been raised about the recent statement release regarding the fee assessed to determine payment eligibility.
The management of the gold dealership company is being urged by customers to review and modify the fee structure.
