Celebrated Ghanaian media personality, Berla Mundi has shared her take on the ousted Gabon President Ali Bongo following military coup.

According to Berla Mundi, African leaders are turning deaf ears to the cry to some African local citizens about the treatment from some presidents.

Her comment comes after ousted President Ali Bongo Ondimba was captured in a viral video appealing to the international community for assistance in freeing him from the house arrest imposed by the military junta in Gabon.

Speaking in the recorded video, President Ali Bongo seated in his office in his home pleaded with people and the media to make noise about the coup staged by the military juntas in Gabon.

According to him, he has been under house arrest and doesn’t know what is happening in the country at the moment. He added that both his wife and son have also gone under hiding.

Berla wondered why African leaders will be silent and allow one family rule over a nation for over 56years and the ousted President Ali wanted to change the presidential term in the constitution to prolong his stay in power.

“I don’t think African leaders are listening. How can one family hijack a whole country for 56 years. How is that possible, that your father rules changes the term in constitution, you come in and also want to extend your stay in power. When clearly the constitution states that you have only two terms. You want to extend that for some funny reason you get into that space, now they take your space and you’re calling Africans to shout for you, it doesn’t make sense,” she said.
