Former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, has made additional revelations regarding the audio that was leaked in an effort to remove Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as Inspector General of Police.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was given the tape recording, according to Bugri Naabu, so he could hear it for himself.
When he appeared before the Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee, which was set up to look into the alleged plot against IGP Dampare, he made these facts known.
He named the two policemen as COP Mensah and Commander Asare.
The conversation, according to Bugri Naabu, took place in his office, which is located in Osu close to the Osu Police Station.

He disclosed that the two senior officers approached him with the intention of pushing for the IGP’s dismissal.
The officers’ explanation for this request was that Dr. George Akuffo Dampare’s actions were thought to more closely align with the interests of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which might jeopardize the NPP’s chances of triumphing in the upcoming general elections in 2024.
A politician who also identifies as a former Northern regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a police commissioner named Mensa can be heard plotting to have IGP Dampare removed because he is too firm and won’t allow the 2024 election to be rigged in a leaked audio that has gone viral.
The Police Commissioner, who is rumored to be retiring, is heard telling the politician that the NPP should forget about winning the next general elections if the current IGP stays in office in the leaked audio, which was shared by GHone TV on its Twitter page.
In order to persuade the politician, Commissioner Mensa cited the strict security measures the IGP Dampare put in place during the recent Assin North by-election. He promised to take a similar or even more stringent approach, which might prevent the NPP from stealing the 2024 election.
