The Ashanti Regional NPP Youth Organizer, Raphael Sarfo Patrick has caused Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to lose one vote in the ongoing super delegates congress elections.
According to reports, the Ashanti Regional NPP Youth Organizer arrived at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as one of the polling stations in the Ashanti region to cast his vote.
After successfully voting for Dr. Bawumia, he turned and showed his ballot paper to the public in a way to confirm that he chose the Vice President over the other 9 presidential candidates.
A member of Alan Kyeremanten’s campaign team protested and argued his vote should be counted valid.
According to the constitution of NPP, it has been stated clearly that no party executive is supposed to publicly campaign or support a presidential candidate.
Moreover, a delegate is not supposed to show his vote to the public. And Raphael Sarfo Patrick has broken all these rules.
However, defending his actions, the Ashanti Regional NPP Youth Organizer claimed that he was greeting someone but not to flaunt his vote.
In a related news, in the ongoing New Patriotic Party Super Delegates congress, Kennedy Agyapong, the candidate for flagbearer, has brought up the issue of voter incentivizing.
Some delegates, according to Mr. Kwame Owusu, camped out at a hotel in Kumasi.
He steadfastly declined to give the name of the candidate who may have camped the aforementioned delegates.
“I am saying that with certainty. NODA Hotel is owned by a gentleman from my own village, Asotwi. People were camped there. I saw people camped. The name was not written Kennedy Agyapong or whatever but whoever did it, whether it’s Ken or whoever, it’s just wrong,” he told JoyNews, monitored by InsightNewsgh.com.
According to Mr. Kwame Owusu, the nation has reached a point where its citizens must “move with civility.”
