The Greater Accra region’s funeral practices will temporarily cease between October 15 and October 29, 2023, according to a statement from the Ga Traditional Council.
The funeral ceremony for the late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III, who passed away in December 2022, will be impacted significantly by this choice.
The Chief of Protocol at the Office of the Ga Mantse, Ambassador Sylvester Parker Allotey, explained that this ban is a necessary precaution to guarantee the smooth and orderly conduct of the late Ga Manye’s funeral proceedings.
He emphasized that beginning on October 15, all funeral activities will be prohibited in the area for a period of two weeks that will be reserved specifically for the rituals leading up to the queen mother’s final farewell.
