Prisons are institutions for lawbreakers, but Shatta Wale considers them his home.

In October 2021, the Ghanaian dancehall musician was detained by police after being accused of spreading untrue information.

In a recent interview with TV3, Shatta Wale discussed his time spent in jail, saying that he didn’t feel particularly humbled by the experience because he felt at home there.

The Ghanaian musician claimed that some inmates were glad to see him incarcerated. The ex-convict continues by saying that while he was incarcerated at the Ankaful Medium Prison in the Central Region, he was even given respect and dignity.

“There were quite a number of people there, some for over 30 years, that wanted to see Shatta Wale. Some fetch water for me and others give me their food. The way I was treated on the streets, is the same treatment I got in the cells,” he said.

Shatta Wale emphasized that the experience had no impact on his music career during the interview with Giovani Caleb, the show’s host, because he had been able to release more successful songs following his bail.

“It wasn’t like they sent me to a place to suffer; when I went there, it was like a vacation. Nobody goes to jail and comes back with the right frame of mind but I came back and released ‘On God’, ‘JJC’ and a whole lot”.

In other news, Efia Odo gave her opinion on the Cecilia Dapaah incident.

The Minister for Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, encountered controversy in July 2023 when court records showed that two of her domestic staff were accused of stealing sizeable sums of money and priceless items from her.

Efia Odo made a lighthearted remark in her tweet: “Even with all that money, she couldn’t buy a decent wig. The wig is stiffer than wood.”

Many of her followers, however, reacted negatively to her tweet because they thought that she was being shallow and trivializing a serious issue.
