In the nine constituencies in the Oti Region, 23 candidates, including two women, have successfully filed their paperwork to run in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

The Krachi East Constituency has the most candidates in the area with five, followed by the Guan, Akan, and Nkwanta North Constituencies with three each.

Michael Yaw Gyato, Humphrey Ankamah Sarpong, Pearl Akua Agyemang, Jacob Nlanli, and Timothy Kwesi Koki are the contestants for Krachi East.

Madam Janet Emefa Obro Adibo Goka, Mr. Richard Ofori, and Mr. Michael Osibo are the candidates in Guan, while Mr. Tanko Issifu Yakubu, Mr. Tassan Safiu, and Ambassador Rashid Bawa are running in the Akan Constituency.

Mr. Joseph K. Nayan, Mr. Benjamin M. Nador, and Mr. Isaac Borrido are in the Nkwanta North Constituency, while Madam Sherifa Sekyere Tijani and Mr. Joshua Gmayenaam Makubu are in the Nkwanta South Constituency.

Mr. Mamudu James, Mr. Appiah Kwesi, and Mr. Innocent Kakateche Tache represent the Krachi Nchumuru Constituency, while Alhaji Baako and Justice Amankwa Mensah represent the Krachi West Constituency.

Mr. Richard Kwadjo Adjei and Dr. Frank Yirenkyi represent the Buem and Biakoye Constituencies, respectively.

According to Mr. Jonathan Akpabeh, the NPP’s Oti Regional Secretary, the aspirants would be informed of the vetting date in due course.

After the vetting, he said, candidates who had complaints about the vetting procedure could file an appeal for redress, and then the regional vetting committee would set a date for the elections.

He urged candidates to hold back on insults and criticism while they canvassed delegates for support.

In order for the party to be formidable, stronger, peaceful, and united to accomplish its goals and objectives after the elections, he emphasized the importance of using decent language in their efforts to win over delegates.
