Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the presiding archbishop and general overseer of the Action Chapel International Ministry, has fervently pleaded with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) not to be provoked into overthrowing the government in response to the nation’s current economic difficulties.
On Saturday, August 12, 2023, at a church service, Archbishop Duncan-Williams addressed recent social media videos in which some young people taunted and dared the Ghana Army to step in and stop the deteriorating economic situation.
“I looked at it and said, this young man was born today he was not born yesterday. We pray for the GAF that God will bless and protect them and that nothing will provoke them to do anything outside of the rule of law,” Archbishop Duncan-Williams passionately expressed.
In order to build peace, he emphasized the significance of justice, saying, “One of the things that guarantee peace is justice. It is said that peace is not the absence of war but the presence of justice.”
In order to keep a functioning democracy, Archbishop Duncan-Williams also emphasized the importance of upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.

Despite the nation’s challenging state, he urged the continuation of good governance and democratic processes.
He prayed fervently for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and the other political parties as well as the armed forces, pleading for blessings and mercy.
He fervently prayed against any decisions or actions that might set back the nation’s progress and emphasized how important it is for Ghana and other African countries to uphold the rule of law.
“Father, we pray for NDC, and we pray for NPP. We pray for our armed forces. We ask for your blessing and for your mercy. And we pray none of them will do anything or will take any decision that will turn the clock of Ghana backwards.”
“We pray for our nation Ghana, Nigeria and all the other nations that they will not perish but the rule of law shall reign. I pray against all contradictions, against all the problems and the mess in our society. Let the rule of law prevail,” Archbishop Duncan-Williams prayed.
He emphasized the significance of preserving stability as Ghana navigates its economic difficulties by adhering to legal frameworks and democratic principles.
