Following the viral reports carried out by the Ghanaian Newspaper Chronicles and some other media outlets that the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expelled their Women’s Organizer in the Ashanti Region, Kumawu constituency, the party has denied it.
Previous InsightNewsgh.com reported that Madam Akua Afriyie was sacked for openly endorsing Alan Kojo Kyeremanten, a candidate for the party’s flagbearer position, who is a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She claimed that shortly after the video of her endorsing Alan during the Kumawu by-election went viral, she was fired the from NDC.
She had made it known to everyone that, despite being a member of the NDC, she would gladly support Alan if the NPP put him forward as their candidate for the 2024 elections. At that time, she claimed that Alan had a vision that could save this nation and inspire the thronging youth.
However, the NDC in a reaction to the viral news debunked the reports going viral and stated emphatically that they have not expelled their Women’s organizer in Kumawu.
According to the party in an official statement released, no women’s organizer in Kumawu constituency has made such declaration and no such purported suspension has been issued.
“I wish to by this statement debunk the publication and put on record that, no such declaration has made by our women’s organizer and no such purported suspension has been occasioned by any structure of the party,” part of the statement read.
The NDC akso added that in the statement that the name Madam Akua Afriyie does not exist in their party records whether as a women’s organizer or party executive.
“I also want to put on record that the said name (Akua Afriyie) which is linked to the story does not exist in any of our records as a party as women’s organizer or party executive either at the branch, constituency or regional level.”
“The NPP will be voted out in 2024 irrespective of who gets elected to carry the flag of the most corrupt party/government in the history of the Republic of Ghana.”

In connection with this, Alan Kyeremanten has revealed that, if chosen as the NPP’s flagbearer, he will receive two million votes in the Ashanti Region.
According to him, the party needs two million votes from the Ashanti Region alone in order to win the 2024 elections and he is the only person who can help the party win those votes.
He claimed that the NPP would suffer greatly if he is not chosen as its flagbearer for the 2024 elections because Ghanaians favor him over the other contenders.
