I woke up one morning and it was all over Facebook that Aboagyewaa and her partner were involved in a failed scheme to supply some items to their buyers. Again, the debate was raised about whether Aboagyewaa was indeed married or not. The details shocked me a little but before we go into all that, let me continue from where we left off.
She told me Indeed Fabian was her husband and even asked me to come home and look at their wedding photos. When we hung up the call, I was deeply shocked. “Fabian is married to Aboagyewaa yet he told me he didn’t know anything about her marriage when I asked him? And how can he be a married man and still have all this time for me? Where was his wife on the times that we were on vacation?”
I wasn’t myself. It felt like something had been taken out of me; my liver? My intestines? I couldn’t tell but I felt like half a woman floating in a bubble. I was so disturbed when I was going to work, I didn’t pick a car. I walked. The distance didn’t do anything to me but on a normal day, I would be panting for walking about one meter.
Fabian called me. “Are you at work? Can I come and pick you up after work so I take you to your favourite restaurant?” He was there before I closed from work that day. He didn’t know I’d spoken to Aboagyewaa and didn’t know the new details I’d heard so I played along.
We talked extensively while at the restaurant and even made plans. We spent most of the night there but I didn’t say anything to him concerning what I’d discussed with Aboagyewaa.
The next day I called Aboagyewaa and asked the time her husband came home last night. She answered, “He came home very late. He said he went to Tema to do something.” I retorted, “He’s lying. He spent the whole night with me last night at the restaurant. He didn’t go anywhere but you don’t worry. I will come to your house on Sunday and everything would be revealed right in his face.”
It was on a Tuesday or so when we made plans to meet at her house on Sunday. After that call, Aboagyewaa and I texted almost every day. Through this, I learned that Aboagyewaa had just lost her mum when Fabian took me out on one of those trips. My heart sank with sadness. How could a man who calls himself a husband do that to the woman he has married? I could feel the sadness in Aboagyewaa’s voice when we were talking. You could feel she was going through a lot and that made me feel bad for some of the choices I’ve made concerning the affair with Fabian.
I told Aboagyewaa, “By all means, we have to expose him for who he is and I believe Sunday would be the day.”
Before Sunday, Fabian called me and told me he was ready for me to meet his mother. We were speaking on a video call when he pointed the phone to his mother and said, “She’s even here. You can talk to her.” I greeted and told her how happy I was to see her. She asked how I was doing and I told her I was doing fine. I told her, “I will come home on Sunday to see you.” She said, “That’s alright. I would be home.”
I don’t know how Fabian was going to take me home but I knew he was lying because, on that very Sunday, he had promised to take Aboagyewaa out in the morning. So maybe his plan was to take her out in the morning and later excused himself and come to me and lie about the reasons why we couldn’t meet his mom.
He had no plans to let me meet his mother. Showing me his mom on video and letting me talk to her was just a charade to keep my heart calm. He had promised often and didn’t deliver so I knew this game plan too well. I continued my plans with Aboagyewaa. She sent me a Google location of her house and we agreed on the time to meet.
Honestly, I was scared. You wake up one morning and decide to go to a matrimonial home of your boyfriend with his wife in toe? What if something goes wrong? What if things don’t go according to plan? My sense of safety got the better half of me so I called two friends of mine; the guy on whose platform I met Fabian and one popular guy on Facebook who is also an influencer. I told them, “I’m going to this place to meet someone. If after thirty minutes you don’t hear from me, it means something bad has happened to me so come around quickly.” I sent them the location too and got ready to meet Aboagyewaa.
From the description of the house, I figured Fabian might see me as soon as I enter the house and maybe run away or something so I tried to wear something that would disguise my personality. I wore a full jalabia and a dark spectacle furnished with a nose mask. I took an Uber and got to the place. Aboagyewaa knew I was coming so she met me at the gate. She said, “I told him I’m going to buy Gob3 just to meet you outside. Good, you’re here. Let’s go in.”
We took the stairs and made it upstairs. When we arrived at the door, I saw Fabian standing there in his full glory. The reality of the situation hit me like a thunderbolt. “So, everything Aboagyewaa has been telling me about this guy is true?”
Aboagyewaa asked him to sit down and he did. I looked back and saw another person in the room. That was Chris. Do you remember the guy he made me speak to on the phone when he didn’t deliver my phone? Yeah, that was Chris.
After the call, I met Chris on several occasions. To be honest with you, wherever I travelled with Fabian, Chris was with us. Sometimes he sleeps in a hotel nearby but would come to see us and be with us in the morning. I wasn’t so close to him but I knew him as Fabian’s business partner and he was ever present wherever we were.
I screamed, “Even you too? So, you knew about this all along? What are you men made of?” Aboagyewaa lost her cool and started insulting him from left to right while I also gave it to him from right to left. We turned our attention to Fabian and it was worse. The insults and the name-calling, I won’t lie to you but we really gave it to them. We were not loud about it. Calm but destructive.
I asked Fabian, “How long did you think you could keep this charade going? How long did you think you could fool me and your wife?” He sat there quietly without saying a word. His friend too. We threw thousands of questions and no answer came from him. I was exploding. I knew people were asking why I didn’t love him but I still stayed with him.
Let me tell you this, Fabian was never bad to me. Apart from the lies and everything, he was very intentional about how he wanted to get to me and I give him credit for that. So, after our Akosombo trip, I told myself, “Love grows. You might not love him today but looking at everything he’s doing for you, you’ll grow to love him so why don’t you give him a chance and see what would happen.”
I started opening up like the sunflower opens up to receive the rays of the sunshine. I looked at him differently. Even the lies he told me I took them as, “Maybe the truth would hurt me that’s why he’s telling a lie.” So, I forgave him easily, hoping the tides would change and I would see a better him.
He never hurt me in any way, regardless of my stubbornness towards him. You should see him in person, tall, athletic and built to last but when he was in front of me, he treated me like I was the one who had his physique and frame. I didn’t stay because of vacations and those things people were suggesting. I stayed because he was good to me. There are a lot of things he did for me that I can’t mention here.
We insulted him. We made him look small but that didn’t erase the hurts from our hearts. Maybe, a few minutes of satisfaction, yeah but I was deeply hurting, especially when he didn’t talk back. When he didn’t answer our questions.
After everything, when I was leaving, Aboagyewaa followed to see me off. I told her, “Now, everything is over. I don’t think he would ever come close to me again.” She responded, “Trust me, he will come again. You don’t know the person you’re dealing with.”
When We reached downstairs, we bumped into Fabian’s mother. Aboagyewaa pointed at me and told the woman, “Your son said he was going to introduce his girlfriend to you today, right” This is her.” The woman was stunned for a moment. She couldn’t grasp what was going on so I gave her the summary of everything. She was dazed with the facts of the issue.
Aboagyewaa went back in when I went out of the gate. Fabian’s mother followed me. She said something like, “There’s something wrong with the marriage between Aboagyewaa and my son but we can’t say everything here so take my number. Call me later so we can talk.”
I called this woman on another day and the things she told me on the phone can write a whole new story that can hold you spellbound to your seat. That is between me and her so I won’t say much about it but the bottom line is that she had problems with the marriage and how secretly it was done. The sad thing was, this woman lived downstairs, in the same storey building that Fabian and Aboagyewaa lived but Fabian always told me he was travelling to visit his mom. You should have a metal-plated heart to be able to love a man like Fabian.
Two days after the incident Fabian reached out to me. I was like “Wow!” Even yesterday, 7th August 2023 he was on the phone with me asking me to give him another chance. After narrating this story to the editor, he told me, “That guy really loves you. After everything, he still had the gut to come chasing you?” I answered, “You don’t know the kind of person Fabian is.”
I blocked him but he reached out to me on another number. He’s that relentless.
As I said earlier, It’s a very long story. I don’t think I can tell it all but even this far that I’d come, I’ve tried.
There are a lot of people who asked questions in the first story. I really want to respond to them but I don’t have the energy to go through all that. The only answer I will give is that people always know what to do or what they would have done only when the story didn’t happen to them. When it happens to them, sometimes they do worse. It’s not about vacations and money. Know this, when he was on the run and broke, I was the one sending him money.
When he called to ask for another chance the first time, I asked him, “How about your wife?” He answered, “The marriage is over. Traditionally we are no longer considered a married couple. What’s left is with the court.”
I have no intention whatsoever to keep him in my web but he keeps coming. You block him from the south and he appears from the north. My friends accuse me of being the reason behind the collapse of their young marriage. I don’t think that’s a fair judgement of my character. The only sin I committed was believing in his lies. As to how the story unfolded, I also suffered the same fate; the lies.
