The Ghana Police Service has arrested some gunmen who falsely posed as National Security officers, and stormed the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono, Greater Accra, on Saturday to shoot indiscriminately, causing fear among residents and patrons.
What was supposed to be a calm evening at the Celebrity Golf Club turned into fear and confusion on Friday, October 18, 2025, when the attackers fired several gunshots, damaging parts of the property.
In a viral video post on X by GHOne, showed people running for their lives as the guns were fired. One of the men was seen shooting at people on the other side of the golf club.
Acting swiftly, the police have arrested three men believed to be involved in the attack.
In an official statement on Sunday October 19, 2025, the Accra Regional Police Command identified the suspects as 28-year-old Abubakar Mohammed, 23-year-old Eric Asare, and 48-year-old Felix Darko. Investigations revealed that the men, invaded a construction site belonging to one of the club’s executives and opened fire, destroying sections of the property.
Police say the attack may be linked to a land dispute involving some parties within the Nungua Traditional Council.
The police did not say whether anyone was hurt but cautioned the public to refrain from acts of violence, especially in land-related matters, warning that anyone found guilty will face the full force of the law.
All three suspects are in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to arrest other accomplices.
The Celebrity Golf Club, located in the Tema West Municipality, is a well-known place for relaxation and sports, visited by both locals and foreigners. But on that Friday, the peaceful environment was broken by gunfire, a reminder of how quickly peace can be disturbed.

THREE ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING INCIDENT AND TRESPASSING AT CELEBRITY GOLF CLUB, SAKUMONO
- The Sakumono District Police Command in Accra has arrested three suspects, namely Abubakar Mohammed, aged 28, Eric Asare, aged 23, and Felix Darko, aged 48, for their involvement in a shooting incident at the Celebrity Golf Club area in Sakumono on 18th October 2025.
- Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects, who falsely claimed to be National Security operatives, stormed a construction site belonging to one of the executives of the Celebrity Golf Club, and unlawfully discharged firearms, causing damage to parts of the property. Police further gathered that the attack is linked to an ongoing land dispute involving some parties within the Nungua Traditional Council.
- All three suspects are currently in custody, assisting police investigations.
- The Accra Regional Police Command cautions all individuals and groups to desist from lawlessness, particularly in matters relating to land disputes. It assures the public that those found culpable will face the full rigours of the law.
