A 51 Year-old proud royal blood of Asante Mampong, Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu, has been nominated to occupy the vacant Asante Mampong stool.

The nominee will soon swear the oath of allegiance to his overlord, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to start his reign.

Before Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu would swear to Otumfuo, he would first swear the oath of service to the people of Asante Mampong as their chief.

The nominee was selected by the reigning Asante Mampong Queenmother, Nana Agyakoma Difie II, in consultation with her elders and kingmakers.

Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu is set to replace his predecessor, Daasebre Osei Bonsu, the late Asante Mamponghene, who died some months ago.

The new nominated chief would occupy the Silver Stool and become the second-in-command of the Asante Kingdom after Otumfuo after his enstoolment.

Nana Agyakoma Difie II, who has lately been busy with the selection of a new Mampong chief, officially outdoored Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu on Monday afternoon.

Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu, who was looking extremely happy, was carried shoulder high, and paraded through the principal streets of Mampong, amid fanfare.

The new Mamponghene was born on 14th March 1974, and he started his education at the City of Kumasi School, before enrolling at the Prempeh College, also in Kumasi.

He has his university education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in Kumasi, where he successfully studied Geometric Engineering.

Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu holds Masters in Geo-Information and Earth Observation at the University of Twente, Netherlands, and Masters in Computational Science and Engineering University of Munich, Germany.
