For some reasons yet to be understood or even explained, an unknown woman believed to be about age 40 was found perched on a tall avocado pear tree with some dogs barking beneath the tree at Afasiebon near Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region and residents concluded she must be a witch.

Residents say she is not known in the area and she could not have climbed the tree without the help of a ladder.
The suspected ‘witch’ was alleged to be in flight on Monday dawn when she strangely lost control and got crashed into a tall avocado tree at Afasiebon near Agric Nzema.

The ‘witch’ is lucky to be alive, as she has been saved from being lynched by an angry mob.

The local people, especially the energetic youth, who clearly abhor witches, reportedly, tried to manhandle the woman after she was rescued from the tall tree.

They were, however, stopped by an armed police officers, who had besieged Afasiebon to maintain law and order after news of a witch perching on a tree got spread.

“She is a woman in her 40’s and we don’t know her in this community. Indeed she is extremely lucky to be alive now as the agitated youth tried to take away her life.

“The so-called witch was rescued by the police officers, who were at the scene to maintain law and order here”, Kwabena Anane, an eyewitness told the paper.

Narrating how it started, he said they heard a huge noise in the peaceful community on Monday dawn, adding that afterwards they heard dogs barking under a tree.

He said the local people then saw a woman perching on the tree in that ungodly hour, adding that police used a ladder to climb the tree before rescuing her.
