The Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Authority (NFA), Kafui Danku-Pitcher, has continued to show active leadership by joining the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture and other top officials on a regional tour to connect with local leaders and promote Ghana’s rich cultural and creative industries.
The first stop was a three-day tour in the Volta Region. The Executive Secretary of NFA shared a video on her Facebook page on May 26, 2025, documenting highlights of the tour.
The goal of the tour was to connect with local authorities, visit tourist attractions, and create stronger ties between the central government and regional leaders in the tourism and creative arts sectors. It also aimed to provide new leaders like Kafui a first-hand look at the opportunities and challenges across the country.
Kafui Danku-Pitcher, known for her contributions to Ghana’s film industry as an actress and producer, shared her excitement on Facebook. She wrote that the tour was not just an official duty but a meaningful step in understanding and promoting Ghana’s rich cultural and creative potential.
“The regional tour demonstrates the government’s commitment to engaging with local leaders, stakeholders, and communities. By interacting with regional officials and visiting key sites, the Minister and her team can gain valuable insights to inform policy decisions and drive development,” she wrote.
The team includes the Minister and Deputy Minister of Tourism, CEOs, Executive Directors, Executive Secretaries, and their deputies. During the tour, they are paying courtesy calls on regional leaders and meeting with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs). These meetings are designed to share the government’s vision and gather feedback from local authorities.
A special orientation session was held for newly appointed leaders. This session helped the CEOs and directors understand government goals, improve teamwork, and prepare them to work effectively with stakeholders at the regional level.
“This tour gives us a chance to listen, observe, and plan better. We want to promote our culture, support filmmakers, and strengthen tourism across all regions,” Kafui said.
The delegation also visited key tourist sites in the Volta Region to better understand how these locations are managed and promoted. These visits are expected to influence future policy decisions.
The regional tour shows the government’s dedication to hands-on leadership and collaboration. Kafui’s active involvement sends a strong message that the film industry is an essential part of Ghana’s cultural and economic development.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, used the opportunity to call on Ghanaians to embrace their cultural identity with pride and authenticity. While speaking to tourism officers in the Volta Region, she emphasized that Ghana’s unique heritage must be preserved and celebrated daily, not just on special occasions.
“Being African must not be a costume we wear once a week,” she declared. Her message urged Ghanaians to reflect originality in everything they do, especially in cultural and creative works.
