THERE WAS panic at Anloga Junction in Kumasi on Monday afternoon after an articulated truck ran through scores of cars and caused injuries to five people.
The injured people, including males and females, are Rose Arhin, 48, Martha Owusu, 32, Stephen Osei Tutu, 45, Francis Sakyi Gyan, 38, and Stephen Amponsah, 35.
The truck was facing Anloga Junction direction and it was descending a hill when it suddenly veered from its lane to the opposite lane, causing fear and panic in the area.
The police said the truck, which was loaded with 1,000 bags of maize, ploughed through a number of vehicles and caused injuries to people and also damaged some cars.
The damaged vehicles are “Nissan Almera taxi cab No. CR 564-13, Hyundai i10 taxi cab, Opel Astra taxi cab No. AS 9641-10 and Toyota Yaris saloon car No. GS 2230-21”.
The others are “Nissan Micra taxi cab No. GR 5909-23, Yamouzine truck No. AW 1530-14, Daewoo Matiz taxi cab No. GG 2061-18 and Honda C-HR SUV No. AS 1690-24”.
According to the police, the heavy truck after ramming a number of vehicles, finally fell upside down on the road Anloga Junction, linking Asokwa motor truck road.
The driver of the truck, one Biiyuuk Konlan Godwin, according to the police, has been detained and efforts are being made to locate other drivers whose cars were involved in the accident to assist investigations.
