THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command has arrested Michael Owusu Ansah aka ‘Baby Last’, who is alleged to have murdered a policeman nine years ago. Also arrested in another operation is a top drug dealer, Adam Mohammed.

Baby Last, according to the police, murdered G/Cpl Frank Essel of SWAT/Ashanti at the Open Space Hotel in Denchemuoso on 19th May 2016 and went into hiding for 9 years. He was just arrested few days ago upon intelligence.

DSP Godwin Ahianyo of the Ashanti Regional Police Command Public Affairs Department, in a press statement, announced the two major arrests.

According to him, the two successful police operations in Kumasi is a major breakthrough for the police in the fight against crime and the use and sale of narcotic drugs in Kumasi and the Ashanti region in general.

Giving further explanation about the two aforementioned arrests, DSP Godwin Ahianyo disclosed that Baby Last has been in hiding for the last nine years and police managed to arrest him from his hideout.

According to him, Baby Last’s name was mentioned when some residential robberies happened at Denchemuoso and the nearby communities recently so the police intensified their search for him and they finally nabbed him.

DSP Godwin Ahianyo stated that some accomplices of Baby Last in the recent robbery operations in the city were also apprehended from their hideouts, announcing that all the suspects would be arraigned very soon.

He also said Adam Mohammed, the top drug dealer, who has eluded police arrest for some time now, was also arrested at Aboabo Number One in possession of some items, believed to be narcotics and an amount of Gh 66,950, adding that he would also be sent to court soon.
