Two Ghanaian men and a Nigerian man have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with a daring gold robbery at WassaAfransie, in the Western Region, where gold worth of GHS 199,000 and other valuable items were stolen by the thieves.

The suspects were caught following an intelligence-led operation by the Western Central Regional Command.

“The Western Central Regional Police Command, through an intelligence-led operation, has arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery incident at WassaAfransie in the Western Region.

The suspects, Felix Adjei, alias Africa or Nana Adjei; Emmanuel Kelvin, a Nigerian national; and Kofi Appiah, alias Kesse robbed employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited of gold valued at GHS 199,000.00 and other valuables,” the Ghana Police took to their Facebook page on April, 27th, 2025.

The arrested individuals were accused of attacking employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited on April 4, 2025. According to initial investigations, Kofi Appiah, a driver for the company, and another employee, Emmanuel Adu, were returning from WassaAyiem after collecting gold from a client when they were ambushed by armed men.

The robbers, who emerged from the bushes, fired warning shots before making off with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla, which was later found abandoned in a nearby community.

Police arrested Kofi Appiah at his residence in WassaAkropong on April 21, 2025. The other two suspects were apprehended at separate hideouts soon after.

During the operation, law enforcement seized a variety of weapons, including a Jojeff pump-action gun, a Calymm PDS pistol without a serial number, 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and other firearms, alongside GHS 65,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the robbery.

The suspects are now in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. They are expected to face charges and go through the legal process.
