BRYAN ACHEAMPONG, the former Agric Minister, has promised to reconstruct the gutted Blue Light Market in Kumasi for the traders in just one-year time.

According to him, he constructed the Rock City Hotel in the Easter Region, which is the biggest hotel in Africa, so building the market would not be a big deal for him.

Bryan, who is the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for Abetifi, said he is only waiting for the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s approval to reconstruct the market.

“I built the Rock City Hotel, the biggest hotel in Africa, so if I say I will build this market in just one year period, trust me because I can easily do it”, the lawmaker stated.

Bryan, who owns the Catering Rest House in Adum, Kumasi, which is a hotel facility, said he is aware that all lands in Asanteman belongs to the Asantehene.

In this regard, he stated that he would meet Otumfuo, when he returns from his trip abroad on Friday, and appeal to him for permission to reconstruct the market.

According to him, after Otumfuo’s approval he would also dialogue with the Kumasi Mayor and the Ashanti Regional Minister over his plans to build the market.

Bryan was sealing when he presented a staggering Gh 300,000 to the affected traders in the Blue Light Market when he visited the place on Tuesday morning.

The former Agric Minister in the ex-President Akufo-Addo’s NPP administration said the affected traders urgently need support from all-and-sundry to get back into business.

He said his promise to reconstruct the burnt market, is among other things, aimed at helping the affected traders, who have lost their source of livelihoods, to return to business.
