Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah has resigned as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), effective immediately.

In a resignation letter dated January 31, 2025, she formally informed the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, copying the Secretary to the President as well, however the Chief of Staff officially received the letter on February 4, 2025.

After serving eight years under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; first as Deputy CEO and later as substantive CEO, Hajia Abibata called her tenure a privilege. She emphasized her commitment to MASLOC’s growth and success but stated that this was the right time to step aside for new leadership.

HajiaAbibata, who previously contested as an NPP Parliamentary Aspirant for Yendi, expressed deep appreciation to the MASLOC Board, management, and staff for their collaboration and support throughout her tenure.

“I am writing to formally resign from my position as Chief Executive Officer of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) with immediate effect.

Over the years, it has been a privilege to serve and to contribute to the growth and success of MASLOC. However, I believe this is the right moment for me to step down and allow new leadership to guide the organization. I am deeply grateful for the support and collaboration I have received from the Board, Management, and our talented Staff.

I remain confident in the continued success of MASLOC and will do everything possible during this transition period to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

Thank you once again for the opportunity to lead the Centre. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and wish the Centre, its employees, and stakeholders all the best in the future,” the letter read.

Speaking in an interview, Hajia Abibata confirmed the authenticity of her resignation letter and thanked former President Akufo-Addo for entrusting her with key leadership roles. She credited him for empowering women through appointments like hers.

“My appointments as Deputy CEO from 2017 to 2021 and as substantive CEO from 2021 to 2025 reflect Nana Akufo-Addo’s unwavering commitment to empowering women and amplifying their voices in governance,” she noted.
