Samuel Kwesi Fletcher has been tipped by many as the right candidate for the position of Chief Executive of Volta River Authority (VRA).

Known for his extensive skills, unmatched experience and visionary leadership, Fletcher possesses the qualifications to transform the VRA into a world-class power producer and supplier.

Fletcher has served as the head of Corporate Communications and spokesperson for the VRA—Ghana’s major utility responsible for generating hydro, thermal, and solar power.

His tenure coincided with the power crisis that plagued Ghana from 2012 to 2015, a period where he emerged as a resilient voice for the VRA and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). His strategic communication efforts not only helped mitigate public dissatisfaction but earned him respect across the political spectrum.

Before his career at the VRA, Fletcher gained valuable experience with the Commonwealth in the UK and the European Network Group in Amsterdam and Madrid. His academic background in Ghana and the Netherlands has equipped him with strategy, policy, and communication skills, which are essential for navigating VRA’s future.

As Ghana’s energy sector evolves, the VRA requires a leader who can and is ready to adapt to changing demands while maintaining the Authority’s commitment to reliable energy delivery.

Samuel Kwesi Fletcher’s qualifications, experience, and vision make him the ideal candidate to lead the VRA into a sustainable future.

With Fletcher at the helm, not only will the VRA enhance its operational efficiency, it will also solidify its status as a key player in Africa’s energy industry, contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic development and ensuring a brighter future for all.

    ROLE IN NDC

Mr. Fletcher’s dedication to public service extends beyond his professional duties.

In 2016, he took the bold step of contesting for the parliamentary seat of his home constituency on the ticket of the NDC, demonstrating his commitment to community development and nation-building. Although his bid was unsuccessful, his loyalty to the NDC remained steadfast.

Over the years, Mr. Fletcher has played a pivotal role in the NDC’s successes. From actively campaigning in the 2016, 2020 and 2024 elections to serving on key committees such as the Business Committee; the NDC Lab and the Resource Mobilization Foundation and the NDC Central Regional Finance Committee.

He also served as the secretary of the NDC branch in Amsterdam and recently the chairman of the Traders and Artisans Network of the NDC in the Central Region.

Mr. Fletcher’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping the party’s trajectory. His efforts helped in the NDC’s decisive victory in the2024 elections, especially in the Central Region.
