Available checks confirm that all the six vehicles belonging to Lord Commey that got seized at gunpoint from his private residence by armed men purporting to be National Security officials have been returned to him.

Mr. Commey, the immediate past Director of Operations at the Presidency got his cars returned to him a day after they were forcefully confiscated.

The incident has caused some embarrassment and public backlash to leadership of the State security system after it was established that the cars were indeed not Government owned but rather Mr. Commey’s private properties.

The system has since apologized to him.

Friday night, a group of armed men claiming to be National Security officials in the company of four armed soldiers forcefully broke into the private home Mr. Commey, and without legal permit, forcefully went away with six of his private cars.

The seized cars includes a Range Rover Vogue which Mr. Commey uses himself, a Mesarati Saloon belonging to his wife and four pickups belonging to his private company.

The invaders claimed they were on an official assignment from the National Security outfit to confiscate the said cars on the grounds that they are not Lord Commey’s private property but rather state cars.

The cars were moved by the armed men from Mr. Commey’s residence and sent to the National Security office annex behind the Osu Stadium.

When the armed men arrived at Mr. Commey’s home, he was absent therefore his aides and other occupants of the home were hesitant in allowing them enter.

It resulted in a misunderstanding which left the residents assaulted before the armed men forcefully entered. They then called tow-trucks to come over and move the cars.

The incident drew a sizeable crowd and nearly resulted into a free for all fight.

At that point, Mr. Commey arrived from town and upon seeing the scene ad being briefed on what was happening, he entered into a compromise with the armed men that they should take the car keys and drive to the National Security office they claim they came from, rather than tow away the cars on the trucks.
