The Ministry of Interior has officially confirmed that Friday, November 8th, 2024, will not be a public holiday.

Rumors on social media sparked confusion about whether or not November 8th will be a public holiday. This misunderstanding stemmed from the rescheduling of the National Farmer’s Day celebration, which is typically held on the first Friday in December.

This year, the event was moved to November to prevent it from conflicting with the upcoming General Elections.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 5th 2024, the Ministry clarified that while the 2024 National Farmers’ Day will be celebrated on November 8th , the day will remain a regular working day. As a result, government offices, businesses, and schools will continue to operate as usual.

The Ministry emphasized that despite the rescheduled celebration, Friday, December 6, will still be recognized as the statutory Farmers’ Day holiday.

Although the official event will not take place on that date, it is legally designated as a public holiday to honor the contributions of the nation’s farmers.

The announcement was signed by Henry Quartey (MP), the Minister for the Interior, reinforcing the importance of clear communication regarding holiday schedules and public observances.
