The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) reminds the general public of its Informant Award Scheme to reward individuals who provide information that lead to the recovery of taxes.

The information includes disclosure of information on under declaration of taxes, smuggling or diversion of goods, under invoicing, non-issuance of VAT invoices, alteration and falsification of records, failure to register for tax purposes, etc.

    Rewards

Informants whose information leads to recovery of tax revenue below Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh¢2,500,000) will be paid 25% of interests/penalties capped at Gh¢25,000.

Where the amount recovered exceeds Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh¢2,500,000), a one percent (1%) of total amount retrieved capped at Gh¢250,000 will be paid.

Where the amount recovered exceeds Twenty-Five Million (Gh¢25,000,000), Top Management in consultation with the Board will determine the amount to be paid.

In the event where there are no penalties and interests and the amount recovered is less than Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh¢2,500,000), a flat payment of between Five Thousand (Gh¢5,000) to Twenty-Five Thousand (Gh¢25,000) will be paid as the Commissioner-General deems fit.

In case of disclosure of information on uncustomed vehicles, a flat amount will be awarded after auction as follows: Salon car GH₵500, SUV GH₵700, Bus/Van Gh₵1,000 and Truck GH₵1,200.
