    Military Career

    Prince Andrew joined the Royal Navy in 1979, enrolling at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. He trained as a helicopter pilot and served with distinction during the Falklands War in 1982. As a Sea King helicopter co-pilot, he flew on multiple missions. Also including anti-surface warfare, casualty evacuation, and Exocet missile decoy operations. His bravery and dedication during the conflict earned him respect and recognition.

    After the Falklands War, Andrew continued his naval career, serving as a helicopter pilot and instructor. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1989 and later to Commander in 1999. He also held the position of Senior Pilot of 815 Naval Air Squadron and commanded the minehunter HMS Cottesmore. Prince Andrew retired from active service in 2001 but maintained his association with the Royal Navy through various honorary roles.

    As the Duke of York, Prince Andrew undertook numerous official duties and engagements on behalf of the British royal family. He represented the Queen at home and abroad.
