The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha has expressed unreserved confidence in the party’s prospects in the northern regions of Ghana ahead of the December 7, 2024, presidential and parliamentary election.

This assertion according to Mr. Mustapha is due to the party’s Presidential Candidate’s extensive tour across 16 regions, which he credits for igniting the vital energy necessary for a successful campaign.

Reflecting on the party’s progress, Salam Mustapha highlighted key projections for the upcoming elections, indicating a significant shift in the political dynamics of the northern regions.

“Don’t look for plaudits, look for results and the plaudits will follow. We have done 16 regional tours which birthed a spark of energy that every successful campaign needs. We’re almost done with the 5 northern regions and I can say with a degree of certainty that the scales in the north have tilted” he said in an interview on Citi FM.

In the Northern Region, Mr. Mustpha projected that the ruling party would secure a majority of the seats, with an estimated 12 to 13 constituencies likely to fall under its control.

This, he noted would mark a notable increase in the party’s influence in the region, suggesting a growing support base.

Again, Salam Mustapha, confidently predicted a near-clean sweep in the North East Region, the home region of the Vice President, and the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

He pointed out that in the best-case scenario, he foresees the NPP winning all available seats, while in the worst-case scenario still presents a strong performance with at least five seats.

In the Savannah Region, Mr Mustapha indicated that the ruling party is also expected to receive substantial support with him anticipating the party to secure four seats, with a minimum of three seats, maintaining their current standing in the region.

Furthermore, in the Upper West Region, the New Patriotic Party National Youth Organizer indicated that the party aims to capture five to six seats out of the 11 available.

This projection, he noted underscores the party’s enhanced efforts to strengthen its foothold in the region.

Although the tour of the Upper East Region is yet to be completed, Mr. Mustapha strongly stated that early indications suggest a promising outcome.

He predicted that the NPP would take home five to six seats, signaling a potential shift in the political landscape in the Upper East Region.
